There was a lot of uncertainty behind the Atlanta Falcons offensive line going into this season, and certainly, that has turned into a lot of negativity.

It has been much-deserved negativity as Matt Ryan and this offense are vastly underperforming, due mostly to this offensive line’s inability to protect anything, whether that be in the run game or the passing game.

The Falcons need to make necessary changes to the line while they still can

There has been a lot of talk behind the Falcons finding a replacement to Kaleb McGary or Jalen Mayfield, the two of them have been nothing short of bad this season, but another name that does not get thrown around enough is Matt Hennessy, who has been just as bad.

Hennessy had arguably his worst game against the Patriots. Bill Belichick knew exactly how to expose the second-year player, he lined a big nose tackle over him for basically the entire game, this resulted in a lot of interior pressure on Matt Ryan and even holding penalties.

Matt Hennessy could simply not handle releasing the snap and quickly getting up to block. It is time to sit him on the bench.

So, who would take over for him?

The quick answer is the rookie, Drew Dalman. Some people may not think this is a good idea, but at this point how could it get any worse?

Provided he does not make snapping errors, it could not get much worse than it already is with Hennessy.

In fact, in the very little amount of snaps Dalman has played, he has been spectacular. Pro Football Focus has him graded with a 90.4 overall grade. And while that is only in 21 snaps, it is still much better than Hennessy.

With all that being said, as long as he can get the ball to Matt Ryan 100% of the time, Arthur Smith needs to bench Matt Hennessy for Drew Dalman, the lack of scoring cannot continue.
