Even before his absence, Calvin Ridley was underperforming for the Falcons

For the Falcons, all three of the disappointing players come on the offensive side of the ball, whether that is due to the lack of expectations on the defense or not is another story.

It has seemed like years since Calvin Ridley has played in a game, it is still unknown when he will be able to come back from an important mental health break, but no one can say that this year has gone according to plan for the talented receiver.

We will focus on the times that he was on the field to start the first part of the season.

In the seven games he has played this year, he has failed to break 100 receiving yards in a single game, this is a shocking stat after he was the top receiver in the league in that stat last season. That alone makes for a disappointing year.

His stats on the year are not good, or not what you would expect from a top receiver in the league. He has 31 catches for 281 yards and two touchdowns. Simply not what you want from a superstar in the NFL.

Then you factor in what he looked like when he was on the field and he just seemed scared to take any contact. It became a usual sight to see him run out of bounds before a first down or to run back to try and avoid getting hit. It was hard to watch.

Who knows what is going on with Ridley, we all hope the best for him and for him to come back stronger than ever, lighting the league on fire once again.

There is no doubt this offense is better with him in it, but that is not to say that this year has not been disappointing for him, the Falcons, and the fans.

Next. Matt Hennessy should be benched now. dark
