Round 1, Pick 9: Chris Olave (WR) – Ohio State

Watching the Atlanta Falcons this year it has been obvious that they are missing Julio Jones. Julio brought a fear factor to opposing defenses that is simply not there anymore. This is why you should not count out the possibility of the Falcons taking a wide receiver with their first pick.

Chris Olave may not be the biggest guy out there, but he will strike a lot of fear into opposing defenses with his athleticism.

With Calvin Ridley’s future being in doubt, the Falcons must find a way to ensure that they have the needed talent for the foreseeable future, Olave would give them exactly what they need.

He is a great down-the-field threat, which is something that Atlanta has also lacked this season. Matt Ryan needs to have a receiver that he trusts down the field every time he throws it up. Kyle Pitts should continue to improve into that, but Olave would instantly take some pressure off of him.

Overall, this pick is made with the decision of not extending Calvin Ridley. There is so much uncertainty around him that Atlanta may just need to move on and Olave would give them the option to do that.
