Zach Ertz

This might seem like wishful thinking for the Falcons as Zach Ertz is still playing at a high level, but he would be a perfect addition to the offense.

Ertz was a longtime Philadelphia Eagle before he was eventually traded to the Arizona Cardinals during this past season. He was a big part of the Cardinals offense, as he provided a steady target for Kyler Murray.

On the year, Ertz totaled 74 catches for 763 yards and 5 touchdowns. That is a pretty good year for the veteran tight end, so he will not come cheap as there will no doubt be multiple teams that pursue him.

However, when you consider how much Arthur Smith deploys at least two tight ends, the investment might be well worth it. It would give Matt Ryan a deadly 1-2 punch at the position.

It would also allow Kyle Pitts to line up outside more often, as Ertz can certainly handle the duties of lining up inside.

According to Spotrac, Zach Ertz’s market value lies around $7.6 million per year. Again, this might just be wishful thinking but Ertz could do wonders for this offense, not to compare him to the greatest tight end of all time, but just remember what Tony Gonzalez added to the Falcons offense when he joined the team.

Zach Ertz is someone that Terry Fontenot must consider.
