3. The Atlanta Falcons could sign a second-tier WR, draft one in the fourth round or later

There are two pass catchers I’m eyeing that could really flourish here for the Falcons as second-tier options and that is Will Fuller and Jamison Crowder. Will Fuller’s tenure with Miami started off on the wrong foot as he was required to sit out to wrap up a suspension for PEDs. That set up a bumpy road for the entirety of the year as he broke his thumb upon return and ended the season with only 4 receptions in two games.

Fuller signed for over $10M on that 1-year audition with Miami but this year’s market mixed with last season’s production and his lack of durability means Atlanta should be able to get him at a discount. Fuller still brings a lot of speed to the table and is an asset to any offense but the health has just been a major problem but it’s a gamble Atlanta really needs to take.

Jamison Crowder on the other hand is no different, his health is spotty but can provide a lot from the slot and that is a position Calvin Ridley occupied tremendously when he was on the field. Crowder has been quite productive over his NFL career catching 409 passes for 4,607-yards and 28-touchdowns as a consistent performer when he’s on the field. Unlike Fuller, Crowder should draw some pretty sough-out interest and will be harder to land but should take a shot.

The final equation in this scenario includes using some late-round capital to beef up the talent in this receiving group. Christian Watson is a player I love but might not slip into the fourth round but Calvin Austin is a player that really boosted his stock at the combine as he was the highest tester in numerous different categories and is a versatile player that should be able to win on the inside.

Alec Pierce has impressive size at 6’3, 211, and that allowed him to be one the best 50/50 ball pass catchers in the nation but his combine really backed up how high of a ceiling he possesses. Pierce recorded a 40’5 vertical which is an impressive mark that backs up his abilities downfield but his 4.41 really standout.
