1. You are not trying to compete you are tanking for the future

Let’s be clear and throw everything the Atlanta Falcons front office has told us this off-season out the window. Matt Ryan was supposed to be their guy just as they were attempting to compete while also rebuilding. Both of these were simply spins the front office was handing out and not the truth of what was to come, Ryan is now with the Colts and this team is rebuilding.

Ignore what the front office said this is a rebuilding team that should only be bringing in quarterbacks through free agency or the draft.  Sign a free-agent and draft a quarterback and open up the competition early this pre-season hoping you find your quarterback of the future.

If you happen to find an answer during a rebuilding season you are a step closer in the right direction. Bringing in Baker is a move that a team makes that is willing to spend right now to win. Atlanta is not a quarterback away from competing for anything and cannot afford to pay what the Browns are likely expecting for Baker. Atlanta would be far better served to start Marcus Mariota and draft a quarterback in the first three rounds of the draft hoping to find an answer.
