The Atlanta Falcons are now in full rebuild mode after trading Matt Ryan to the Colts and signing veteran Marcus Mariota. The team’s direction is starting to become clearer, this is a team in the race for the highest pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

After years of poor drafting and terrible contracts, the Falcons have decided it is time to switch fully into rebuild mode and get rid of the bad contracts and players that have hurt the Atlanta roster.

With an aggressive approach, the front office will be able to fix Atlanta’s cap problems by next season. The team will go from having over $60-million in dead cap and little cap space to over $100-million in cap space next year. This is a huge leap for a team with a lot of draft picks that could go all-in next year.

The Atlanta Falcons need to continue to trade any bad contracts or draft picks and focuses fully on the 2023 season

Tanking a season is never easy and that isn’t completely what Atlanta is doing. Signing Marcus Mariota and Casey Hayward means Atlanta will at least attempt to play competitive football even if they aren’t winning very often.  However, the goal for Atlanta is to take a year to reset and instill a new wave of talent and put in place a new culture. With this in mind, these three Atlanta Falcons could be the next players headed out the door.
