Gone are the days of Matt Ryan elevating the play of his fellow teammates, now the Atlanta Falcons have a quarterback who they need to set up for success.

As it currently stands, they are not doing so, they have a depleted roster that will not help out Marcus Mariota, they need to make big moves in order to change that.

The Falcons need to change things around to help out Mariota

It all starts up-front for the Atlanta Falcons, they need to restore the trenches to become at least serviceable. Atlanta already has Chris Lindstrom and Jake Matthews who played wonderfully last season as well as Matt Hennessy who was decent and should take another step forward.

That just leaves Kaleb McGary and Jalen Mayfield, two players that should not be starting this upcoming year as they have proven nothing. Atlanta must find replacements for them either via the draft or with someone already on the roster.

The next position that needs help is at wide receiver where they are decimated. Olamide Zaccheaus is a good depth player but should not be the starter like he is right now. Auden Tate could potentially breakout but the team cannot count on it.

Damiere Byrd is a gadget player who will take the top off of defenses but also should not be counted on, and then there is Frank Darby who is only entering his second season and hardly had any snaps last season.

They need to simply find a way to add a premium wide receiver. The free-agent market is littered with talented receivers who have extensive injury history, it would be hard to expect any of those players to play a full season.

The draft is likely the route that Atlanta will go as they can find a young, talented player who can make an impact from day one. Watch out for the Falcons to take a wide receiver in the second round.
