The Falcons might have moved on from Julio Jones a year ago but they should consider bringing him back

Julio Jones is the greatest receiver in the history of the Atlanta Falcons, there is no denying that. Sure, guys like Roddy White, Terance Mathis, and Andre Rison were amazing, but none of them can compare to the freak that Julio was during the peak of his career.

Here is a look at the numbers Julio put up during his time with the Atlanta Falcons:

  • 135 games
  • 848 receptions
  • 12,896 receiving yards
  • 60 touchdowns
  • 95.5 yards per game

Honestly, those numbers do not do him justice. He had a period of five straight seasons putting up over 1,400 receiving yards, including a season where he had 1,871. During that season where he had over 1,800 yards, he averaged about 117 yards per game. That is called dominating the NFL.

With all this being said, his days of being the league’s best receiver are over, no one can argue that. He has had two straight injury-plagued seasons where he has not cracked the 800-yard mark.

Julio Jones can still contribute to a team, but should not be counted on as a number one receiver. Luckily for the Falcons, they would not need him to be as they have a talented rookie who should take over that role.

Here are three reasons why Terry Fontenot should bring Julio Jones back:
