The Atlanta Falcons play the New Orleans Saints in weeks 1 and 15 of the 2022 NFL season

Previous matchup: January 9, 2022 – New Orleans 30, Atlanta 20

So, the Atlanta Falcons start this all off with a loss — spoiler alert: that will be the trend for the most part — in what is the most recent regular season game they have played.

It was a rough game for them as the Saints were playing for the chance to make it into the playoffs as a wildcard team, but the 49ers ended up beating the Rams later in the day to break the Saints’ playoff hopes — thank you, San Francisco!

We all were hoping that a partially injured Kyle Pitts would be able to break the rookie tight end receiving yards record that Mike Ditka held but the Falcons seemed to not prioritize that as he only caught two passes for eight yards. This game got away in the second quarter as the Falcons were down 24-6 going into halftime.

The Atlanta Falcons play the Los Angeles Rams in week 2 of the 2022 NFL season

Previous matchup: October 10, 2019 – Los Angeles 37, Atlanta 10

Tough game for the Falcons as they were beaten up on the offensive side all game long.

This is also the game where Devonta Freeman thought he could win a fight against Aaron Donald, but Donald simply picked him up like a rag doll.

Surprisingly enough the Falcons managed to contain the Rams’ offense for the most part as Todd Gurley only managed to gain 41 yards on the ground with 2.2 yards per rush, while the Rams’ leading receiver was Robert Woods with 80 yards.

For the Rams’ defense there was a player that ended the game with three sacks, can you guess who that was? Yup, Dante Fowler Jr., surely the guy everyone was thinking about.

Matt Ryan left this game in the fourth quarter when Aaron Donald sacked him and he injured his ankle. Matt Schaub went in the game and completed all six of his passes, one for a touchdown. With 11 seconds left, the Falcons fumbled and the Rams recovered it for a touchdown to inflate the score just a little bit.

The Atlanta Falcons play the Seattle Seahawks in week 3 of the 2022 NFL season

Previous matchup: September 13, 2020 – Seattle 38, Atlanta 25

This was the season opener for the Atlanta Falcons and they disappointed, to say the least.

Russell Wilson tore threw the Falcons’ defense by throwing for 322 yards, and four touchdowns, with just four incompletions on 35 attempts.

On the other hand, Matt Ryan threw for 450 yards, Julio Jones had 157 receiving yards, Calvin Ridley had 130 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and then Russell Gage had 114 receiving yards. That is crazy, three receivers for the Falcons had more than 100 receiving yards.

These two teams did not rely on the run game at all as the Falcons had 72 rushing yards compared to the Seahawks’ 84 rushing yards.

The Falcons lost their next four games to start the season, resulting in Dan Quinn being fired, and then they finally picked up their first win of the year in Raheem Morris’ first game as interim head coach.

Anyways, beating Seattle this year should be an easier task without Russell Wilson.
