The Atlanta Falcons must take advantage of a porous run-defending defensive line for the Rams

The Atlanta Falcons were able to run the ball effectively in game number one and they need to make that a priority going forward, especially this week.

While the Los Angeles Rams did not give up a crazy amount of yards on the ground, the Bills were able to run the ball effectively when they wanted to.

Considering they ran the ball 25 times compared to the Falcons who ran it 38 times in week one, the Rams are likely preparing to stop the run. But it is another question if they will be able to stop a team who ran for over 200 yards against a defense that is supposed to excel at stopping the ground game.

The Falcons must test them early and often, preferably away from Aaron Donald.

Not a single Rams defensive lineman had a Pro Football Focus grade over 65.8 when it came to defending the run. That could prove to be a huge advantage for Arthur Smith who wants nothing more than to pound the ball down a defense’s throat.

The running game will determine the outcome for the Atlanta Falcons, it is as simple as that.
