3. Kyle Pitts

Kyle Pitts is certainly improving as a blocker and was employed as such for much of the game on Sunday. One of the most electric pass catchers in the league was used as a blocker and finished the game with only two catches. A lot of the blame for this lands on the shoulders of Arthur Smith and Marcus Mariota.

Smith’s scheming and insistence on how he uses Pitts and Mariota for not getting Pitts the football when he was open.  Pitts ran a great route in the red zone and was standing alone in the end zone waiting for the football.

Mariota stared the coverage into Pitts before throwing a poor pass that didn’t give the star tight end to make a play. Kyle’s lack of impact is shocking for the Falcons considering just how great he was last season. A good game from Pitts against the Rams or Saints and there is an argument Atlanta is sitting at 1-1 on the season. A great game from Pitts in both and the Falcons could be undefeated, perhaps a stretch but that is the impact that Pitts is capable of having if only the Falcons offense will find a way to consistently give him the football.
