3 Atlanta Falcons who stepped up in painful division thriller
By Nick Halden
3. Lorenzo Carter
All season long it seems Lorenzo Carter and Arnold Ebiketie have been so close to making a huge play consistently falling just short despite winning at the point of attack. Carter’s season may not be resulting in the sacks the Falcons were hoping he would deliver but the linebacker has still been having a positive impact and that resulted in a huge play on Sunday.
Lost in the madness that was the second half was Lorenzo Carter’s athletic play that gave the Falcons a touchdown they were desperate for. With the Panthers finding themselves on offense and having possession near halftime and receiving the second-half kick this game could have tilted quickly in Carolina’s favor.
Carter’s interception and return for the touchdown put Atlanta in a position to win the game and should have been the deciding play. Carter would be a great candidate for an extension considering the bargain he has been for the Falcons so far this season. Carter made a play when the defense had no answers in the secondary and flipped the momentum that carried all the way until the end of the game.
