Atlanta Falcons shake up the first round with blockbuster trade in mock draft
By Nick Halden
Zay Flowers doesn’t exactly fit Arthur Smith’s trend of picking or signing the biggest pass catchers that are on the market. However, it isn’t like this strategy is working (Outside of London and Pitts) the Falcons are desperate to find playmakers and positional depth and Flowers helps fix both of these problems.
Flowers creates space so effortlessly and would be an instant upgrade if the Falcons let Olamide Zaccheaus walk in free agency. After Quentin Johnso,n he is the best fit for the Falcons in this draft and allows them the speed threat the team is so obviously lacking.
A trio of Zay Flowers, Kyle Pitts, and Drake London should be more than enough to help Desmond Ridder take a step forward in 2023. Add in a great running game and a veteran receiver or two (Julio Jones reunion?) and Atlanta has all the makings of a strong offense that can carry the team and help keep the defense off the field. Not addressing pass rusher in their first two picks is tough but Flowers and Ringo are the best players and fits on the board for the Falcons and they cannot afford to pass on either in these positions.
