Ranking the 17 most likely QBs to start for the Atlanta Falcons in 2023
1. Desmond Ridder – Atlanta Falcons
Surprise, surprise, the most likely quarterback to start for the Atlanta Falcons is the same one that started their final four games.
Many fans have been focused on Arthur Smith’s refusal to name Desmond Ridder the Falcons starting QB next season, but why would he? You don’t gain anything by committing to him this earlier, minus boosting his confidence, but if that is what it takes for him to be confident, then he isn’t fit for the NFL. Ridder doesn’t need his name in permanent marker as QB1 to be successful.
Saying “Desmond Ridder is my starter for next season” would be irresponsible. Arthur needs to spend time evaluating what he has seen, as well as, evaluating what gives the team the best chance to win a Super Bowl. It will take time.
You shouldn’t look into his remarks too much, after all, this is the same guy who defended Marcus Mariota for weeks and then suddenly changed his mind and subtly slammed him in front of the media.
In all likelihood, Desmond Ridder will be the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons in their next meaningful game.
