4 Atlanta Falcons moves to help Desmond Ridder in 2023

2. Put Cordarrelle Patterson back in a utility role
Part of what was missing from the Atlanta Falcons offense in the 2022 season was the ability to have Allgeier and Patterson both consistently on the field and making an impact. Patterson played the running back role consistently sharing carries with Allgeier.
Allgeier should be the starting running back next season and Atlanta needs to add a reliable third veteran back or a mid-round draft pick. This will allow Atlanta to have Allgeier start and have three reliable options for the position.
Patterson was at his best when Atlanta was using him in a myriad of roles and the defense was forced to match up. For Desmond Ridder to have a player consistently creating mismatches is a huge advantage and will take attention off of Kyle Pitts and Drake London.
Atlanta’s best offense a season ago was finding ways to get the ball to either Kyle Pitts or Cordarrelle Patterson. If anything good was happening it was often because one of the two created a play.
