2. Desmond Riddder’s week 18 game-tying touchdown

Tom Brady and the Bucs were up 7-0 on the Atlanta Falcons early in the game with Ridder leading a drive that was facing a 3rd and goal. Ridder took the snap and scanned a field with zero options, one target had fallen and the rest were bracketed by the defense.

Ridder kept his poise under pressure buying time scrambling out of the pocket and rolling left bringing the defense up and towards him opening a window for Ridder to flip the ball to Pruitt for the score.

It was a play that perfectly summed up both Ridder’s ability and the progression the quarterback had shown through his four starts. The ability as a rookie to understand the situation and the touch needed on the pass to get it there was arguably the best moment through four games and showed why Atlanta should believe in the second-year quarterback.

That is a situation that a less poised quarterback force a throw on or simply throw the ball away. Ridder has great touch and enough speed that these types of plays can be made with regularity in the 2023 season.
