Atlanta Falcons fans have seen Bijan Robinson take some brutal hits throughout his career. Somehow, the star running back keeps getting back up…They are also well aware that he's not human--whether that means avoiding injury or being just the most dangerous running back in the NFL.
That was the case again last Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, when Robinson absorbed another frightening-looking hit during Atlanta's 20-13 loss - The play had the kind of look that immediately makes fans worry about a star player's season, but Bijan was able to keep on going.
On T.J. Watt's pick-six of Cooper Rush, the 24-year-old got clotheslined into another stratosphere when Chris Lindstrom fell onto his leg, bending it into a direction that it shouldn't be able to. You'd think Achilles tear, or ACL. Nope. Nothing. He walked off like as if he season almost didn't just end.

That added another moment to the growing list of reasons Falcons fans believe Robinson might simply be built different--it's not a hit most players are able to get up from. But Bijan Robinson isn't your average NFL player.
The Falcons avoided a possible major injury to Bijan Robinson last week
The fourth year running back was already carrying a massive workload in Pittsburgh. With Rush unexpectedly making his first start for Atlanta, Robinson became the centerpiece of the offense as he finished with 21 carries for 83 yards while catching eight passes for 90 yards and a touchdown - His 173 scrimmage yards accounted for the vast majority of Atlanta's offensive production.
It was exactly the type of workload that made the scary hit more concerning. Robinson, however, continued playing. The latest scare also brought back memories of Bijan Robinson's college career…
While playing for Texas against Texas Tech in 2020, Robinson attempted to hurdle a defender and was flipped completely over. He landed awkwardly on his head and neck before getting up and walking off the field - The hit looked BAD, and video of the play became one of the more memorable moments of his college career.

But Bijan was fine. That's part of what makes Robinson so valuable, but it also creates a responsibility for the Falcons. They cannot simply assume their star running back will always bounce back from every massive hit. That's part of why they paid him the money they did.
Robinson has shown that he can absorb punishment. The Texas moments are proof of that, and Sunday's game provided another example. But "invincible" is obviously a fan nickname, not a medical diagnosis.
The Falcons need to treat Robinson like the centerpiece he is. He is too important to the offense to expose him to unnecessary punishment, particularly if Atlanta can eventually get its quarterback situation stabilized and take some pressure off the running game.
For now, though, Falcons fans can appreciate what they saw in Pittsburgh. Robinson took another scary looking hit, kept playing and finished the afternoon with 29 touches and Atlanta's only touchdown. He was the heartbeat of the offense.
At this point, calling him "invincible" might be a little dramatic. But it is getting harder to blame Atlanta Falcons fans for believing it.
