3. The Atlanta Falcons GM broke his trend of not selecting a player in the seventh round

The Atlanta Falcons hired Terry Fontenot on January 19, 2021, and it took until April 29, 2023, for him to draft a player in the seventh round.

DeMarcco Hellams became the first player drafted in the final round by Fontenot on what was a legendary announcement of the pick. Then he followed it up by taking Jovaughn Gwyn with the very next pick.

He has so often traded the picks in the seventh round which is honestly a good strategy since it is rare for a seventh-rounder to become an impact player.

He did trade one of his seventh-round picks for Jonnu Smith but he still had his original pick and a pick that was packaged with Bryan Edwards last year.
