He may not be the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons anymore, but nobody can say Raheem Morris doesn't still help the Falcons out.
Earlier this week, the Falcons were playing a game of roster gymnastics, especially in regard to their open practice squad spots. One of many moves the Falcons made was bringing back edge rusher Khalid Kareem after he played four games for them in 2025 and hosted him on a visit last week.
However, thanks to Morris, the reunion was very short-lived. Morris, who is now the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers, poached Kareem off the practice squad of his old team, signing him to the 49ers' active roster ahead of their Week 1 matchup in Melbourne vs. the Rams.

But that’s not the only ripple effect of this. With the open spot on the practice squad, the corresponding move saw Atlanta re-sign a player Morris knows all too well : fellow edge rusher Bralen Trice, perhaps one of the biggest what-ifs in recent franchise history.
Trice’s signing is in correspondence to EDGE Khalid Kareem being signed off the Falcons’ practice squad by another team, a team source said.

Bralen Trice is replacing Khalid Kareem on the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad
Trice was a key piece of Morris’ first draft class as the Falcons’ head coach back in 2024, but his NFL career hasn’t gone according to plan, as he was a surprise cut on roster release day. The Dirty Birds selected Trice in the third round of the 2024 Draft out of Washington , but he has yet to make his regular season debut due to injury.
The 25-year-old tore his ACL in the preseason as a rookie, and re-aggravated that same knee injury last summer. And he again got hurt in training camp, but has since returned to full strength. Atlanta only released him due to the injury concerns as they only kept three edge rushers on their initial 53: Za’Darius Smith, Samson Ebukam, and Cameron Thomas
And while it took them a couple of days to bring him back—possibly to allow him to mull new opportunities— they used Kareem’s spot (that Morris helped clear) to bring him back on the practice squad, which could be the way Bralen Trice sparks a career resurgence now that he's healthy.
With Jalon Walker out for the season and James Pearce Jr. suspended, the Falcons’ EDGE room (which has the three and Jared Ivey) could see Trice become a gameday elevation sooner than we think. And if that happens, the former All-Pac 12 nomination could flash the upside we saw in college.
So in a weird way, Bralen Trice has both Raheem Morris (and Khalid Kareem) to thank for the Falcons handing him a lifeline, but it remains to be seen how he'll respond.
