Vic Beasley was the Atlanta Falcons’ first pick in the 2015 NFL draft out of Clemson. He is the third rookie to make the list which is always a good thing. Beasley will bring the ability to rush the quarterback to a team that so desperately needs it.
There is no need to look up the Falcons’ total sack numbers as team over the past two years. They are horrible. Period. But, Beasley is here to change that. He can put his hand in the dirt, or stand up as an outside linebacker. But, his job is clear, rush the quarterback. No matter where he lines up, his job will be to wreak havoc on the opposing quarterback.
You won’t see him drop into coverage hardly ever. That would just be wasting what he was brought here to do. When Beasley is in the game, you can expect a good shot at disrupting the quarterback and getting off of the field. Many believe Beasley will be the Falcons’ third down man while first and second down may be tasked to someone who is able to drop back into coverage. But, you will see a lot of Beasley on the field, especially at training camp.
