No. 1: RB Ameer Abdullah, Detroit Lions

All aboard the Ameer Abdullah hype train.

I’ve loved this guy for a while now, and he was a player I thought would be perfect for the Atlanta Falcons back in mock draft season. Abdullah can hurt defenses in so many ways. He can be your between the tackles guy, he has the pace to go outside and he has the agility and footwork to fool defenders.

Abdullah has lightning speed once he hits stride and he is deadly in open space. He moves so quickly, linebackers and defensive backs often take poor angles trying to tackle him which allows him to burst through.

In his final three years in Nebraska, Abdullah carried the football 771 times for 4,438 yards and 36 touchdowns. He averaged an excellent 5.7 yards per carry. He’s not the biggest back, but he is tougher than he looks and has the ability to break tackles.

But that’s not all.

Not only will Abdullah potentially become the lead back in Detroit, but he will also split out as a receiver and be used in the return game. There is no end to this young man’s talent, and he should definitely be high on your list.

In some drafts you may need to take him as early as the fourth round, but he has all the potential in the world to be completely worth it.

All aboard!
