Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan a top-10 QB according Pro Football Focus

Matt Ryan was ranked eighth in a recent NFL quarterback rankings by Pro Football Focus. Ryan surprisingly finishes above Andrew Luck, who is widely considered to be a top-5 quarterback. Here’s what Steve Palazzolo had to say about the Atlanta Falcons’ passer in his rankings:

"8. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons (82.9)Ryan has been consistently good since entering the league in 2008, and 2014 was no exception, despite the Falcons’ struggles. He has great chemistry with star WR Julio Jones, and Ryan’s ability to anticipate throws in the middle of the field is as good as any QB in the league. He will struggle at times, as he did in the season finale last year with a playoff spot on the line, but he’s done enough to keep him firmly in Tier 2."

While Ryan’s spot at eight seems fair, there are some head-scratchers on this list. Drew Brees is still one of the best quarterbacks in league, but he came in at No. 2. That’s notably above Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady, who is placed fourth. Philip Rivers is another surprise at sixth. Luck and Russell Wilson cap off the top ten at ninth and tenth respectively.

All in all, it’s a good list. But there are a few names on there that should be switched around. What are your thoughts on Ryan’s placing? Is it too high, too low or about right?
