5. Offensive line

At the beginning of the year, Dan Quinn appeared to be piecing together an offensive line with anything and everything he could find to fill the void. Unfortunately for him, he was not able to have the time to allow the line to gel together before being called into game action.

With the late signings of Andy Levitre and Jake Long, it seemed as if Thomas Dimitroff and company were rethinking the release of Joe Hawley during the offseason and tried their best to make-do with a patch-worked offensive line, but when the team gives up 89 quarterback hits in the regular season, it was obvious that this was not quite enough to provide the protection that Matt Ryan needed to be successful.

The inefficiency of this offensive line led to multiple turnovers in the exchange between Ryan and whoever the center was at the time as the revolving door of the center position didn’t help either. And these costly mistakes caused heartbreaking halts to drives that may have swung the game in a positive direction. And, because of this, it is imperative that this issue is dealt with immediately.

I anticipate the Falcons to draft an offensive lineman in the third or fourth round of the draft, but they must bring in a seasoned veteran who can help plug the hole of the sinking ship of the offensive line.
