WR Rishard Matthews

With the unsurprising release of Roddy White, the Atlanta Falcons are looking for any and all options that will hopefully fill the void left by the exodus of the franchise-leading receiver. For some reason, I anticipate that Atlanta will continue their low bidding ways, and that should open the door for former Miami Dolphins receiver Rishard Matthews to take a spot on the depth chart.

Matthews has left a lot to be desired over the course of his career, but last year when given a chance, he came up mightily with Herculean performances some weeks. And it is those gladiator-type outings that will garner the interest from the Falcons.

Though there have been many failed attempts at bringing in wide receivers-most notably Leonard Hankerson, Matthews could be a great signing for the Falcons if what was seen last year is truly his potential. And if a team could side those great outings opposite of Julio Jones, it could be the receiver that they’ve been trying to find.
