** TRADE** Atlanta Falcons receives 4th round pick (106th overall) and 6th round pick (185th overall)
Chicago Bears receives 3rd round pick (81st overall)
Round 4, 106th overall (from Chicago): Connor McGovern, G, Missouri
The team addressed the center spot with Alex Mack and that upgrade alone is going to pay dividends very quickly. The guard spot is the concern now for the Falcons. McGovern is strong as an ox, gritty, and most importantly, a fit for the zone blocking scheme.
If the 33 reps on the bench press at the combine doesn’t entice you, maybe being the record holder at Missouri with a 690-pound squat should do the trick. As far as skills go, McGovern has big, active hands, with solid foot quickness. His pass protection needs a little adjusting but has a fourth rounder, McGovern is well worth the pick here.
