3) Desmond Trufant – CB

The Atlanta Falcons traded up in the 2013 NFL draft to select Desmond Trufant with the 22nd pick in the first round and that has proved to be a very smart decision. Trufant in many eyes is a top 10 cornerback and is downright filthy on the football field.

Trufant started to get more recognition in 2015 after quarterbacks such as Eli Manning refused to throw in his direction. In week 2 against the New York Giants, Trufant was only thrown at one time all game and didn’t allow the catch. In fact the ball was well overthrown and wound up a good ways out-of-bounds.

Trufant isn’t the type of corner who will intercept a lot of passes. He has just six in his three-year career but what he will do is defend passes extremely well. He has one of the highest pass deflection totals in the league since 2013 and is only getting better.

Trufant is player that you want to build around on a defense and he will be around for many more years if he accepts a large contract that the Falcons are about to offer him after next season. He more than deserves to be ranked as the third-best player on the Atlanta Falcons’ roster.
