The Patriots boasting the league’s best scoring defense is a bit misleading

Yeah, no one is better at limiting a team’s No. 1 option than the Patriots, but with the Atlanta Falcons, this just isn’t possible. They want you to attempt to do so because they know they have countless threats.

The Patriots defense has not faced an offense like this and honestly haven’t faced any true offensive powerhouse this season. Their No. 1 scoring defense has been padded by an easier schedule of subpar offenses.

They have faced Ben Roethlisberger, Brock Osweiler, Matt Moore, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Trevor Siemian, Joe Flacco, Jared Goff and Colin Kaepernick during their last nine games.

The best quarterbacks from that list are Roethlisberger and Joe Flacco and neither of them played even close to Matt Ryan’s level this season.

They gave up 23 points to Flacco and the Ravens offense, but did play rather well against Pittsburgh during the AFC Championship. Le’Veon Bell being injured and the emphasis placed by the Patriots on Antonio Brown had a lot to do with it.

This, accompanied with many drops, is why the Steelers only scored 17 points. I can assure you one thing, this won’t happen to the Falcons because they are, again, too balanced and deep.

The last time the Patriots faced a top quarterback in Russell Wilson, they gave up 31 points in a home loss. I believe the Falcons will outscore the Patriots in a shootout.
