Round 5, Pick 31 (174th overall) – Eric Saubert (TE, Drake)

Jacob Tamme’s injury and release left the Falcons with a need for a third tight end to play behind Levine Toilolo and Austin Hooper. Eric Saubert was selected as the answer, as an athletic freak with high potential.

Saubert is a bit unpolished in both blocking and catching, but he is a great specimen for an NFL tight end. With the right coaching and development, Saubert can develop into a solid contributor for the Falcons.
