Young Offensive Playmakers Step Up

The day ended quickly for established offensive stars like Matt Ryan, Devonta Freeman, and Mohamed Sanu but for others like Ben Garland, Wes Schweitzer, and Marvin Hall, the extended period of playing time proved helpful as each player put together some quality amount of film for coaches to watch.

Both Ben Garland and Wes Schweitzer shared their time of distress and confusion during the exhibition but the two competing linemen gradually became more stout in the run blocking and had their fair share of good plays against Miami’s first-team defensive line. The competition may lead til the first regular season game against Chicago.

Even though the run game seemed at a bit slower pace during the second half, despite Terron Ward rushing for 48 yards on 11 carries, it was the young receiving corps that showed up throughout the game with highlighting plays from Marvin Hall, Reggie Davis, and Anthony Dablé.

Davis left the game has the team’s leading receiver with 43 receiving yards on 2 catches. He would had a receiving touchdown to add to his stats but it was called back after a holding call on rookie tight end Eric Saubert. Hall proved to be versatile and familiar with the offense has he caught 2 passes for 23 yards but also returned 4 kickoffs for 88 yards and a 26 yard return on punt. Dablé struggled at times early but also showed up throughout the game with 32 receiving yards on 3 catches.

The amount of speed in the offense is evident but deciding which of the three has a better chance to make the roster is too hard to tell now.
