Atlanta Falcons fans…You might be thinking Week 5 is going to be awful because the Falcons have their bye week this week and there are no games to watch.

I’m here to say that you guys wrong. There are going to be some games to watch.

Week 5 of the NFL season has some intriguing matchups, including two games that could impact the Falcons in the NFC South division standings. Here are the games to watch out for:

More from Blogging Dirty

Thursday, October 5th, 8:25 PM EDT: New England Patriots vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

This one is a really good game to watch. The Patriots are coming off a stunning loss, at home, against the Carolina Panthers.

Tom Brady and the Patriots offense looks as explosive as ever. There’s one big problem…their defense is God awful. The Patriots are currently last in total defense, giving up 32 points ppg and 457 yards through 4 games this season.

Meanwhile, down in Tampa, the Buccaneers are coming off a big win against the New York Giants on Sunday. Jameis Winston has this Bucs offense trending upward averaging 24 points and 362 yards through three games.

However, their defense is ranked near the bottom of the league. The most staggering stat from a defense that includes Gerald McCoy, Robert Ayers and Kwon Alexander….they have only one sack so far this season.

Looks like we have a good old fashioned shootout on our hands tonight on Thursday Night Football.

Sunday, October 8th, 1:00 PM EDT: Carolina Panthers vs. Detroit Lions

This may arguably one of the top 3 games of the week.

The Carolina Panthers are coming off a huge win against the New England Patriots.

Cam Newton looked like the Cam Newton of old and put together his best performance of the year with 3 passing touchdowns, 1 rushing touchdowns and a 130.8 passer rating.

The Detroit Lions, who might be the NFC North Champions when it’s all said and done, are coming off a division win against the Minnesota Vikings. As we saw two weeks ago, their defense is very much improved and we all  know how good Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is, after he almost pulled off a comeback against the Falcons in Detroit.

Could be another thriller on Sunday in the Motor City.
