5 bold predictions for the Atlanta Falcons this season
By Joe Beasley
FALCONS WILL LEAD THE LEAGUE IN TAKEAWAYS
We all know the debacle that was the Falcons defense last season due to injury. It was so bad to the point where our best defense was Matt Ryan trying to out throwing every team the Falcons faced and well that resulted in a 7-9 record.
A lot of people are expecting big things from this defense. We are healthy at all three levels, there is expected improvement from Takk McKinley as he recently set a goal for himself of double digits sacks or else he would cut off his previous dreadlocks.
Let’s not forget Dan Quinn has placed himself in charge of the defense and for those who don’t know, Quinn was instrumental in the development of the Legion of Boom.
With that being said, the Falcons defense will lead the league in takeaways. They finished tied for eighth in interceptions with 15. With that healthy secondary, people should expect that number to increase, especially if the defensive front can generate a pass rush on the opposing offense. Let’s not forget about Damontae Kazee would was tied for the lead in interceptions last year with 7 returns to that healthy defense.
As for fumbles, this team has some of the hardest hitters you can find in the NFL so expect a few hit stick fumbles this season as well.
