The state of Georgia will be the butt of every sports joke for as long as they go title-less. 2nd and 26 and a score that I will not utter will forever be a stain in the Georgia sports world. Even, beyond Dan Quinn, the Atlanta Falcons couldn’t finish games.

From the NFC Championship in 2012 to London in 2014, the Atlanta Falcons are simply not a team that can hold onto three-possession leads in the second half.

The Atlanta Falcons just came off a back to back win streak to keep their season alive, even with very slim chances of making the playoffs; Only to lose at home to Tampa Bay in an embarrassment of a performance.

This is all too similar from 2018. After the Atlanta Falcons started 1-4 on the season, they quickly gained three straight wins to go to 4-4. However, this ended in an embarrassment as the Falcons traveled to Cleveland to get destroyed by a dysfunctional Cleveland squad.

Let’s also not forget Dan Quinn’s first season in charge of the Atlanta Falcons. After starting 6-2, the downfall of the season began with probably to worst coaching debacle I’ve ever seen. Instead of the Atlanta Falcons going for a touchdown at 4th and goal from the two-yard line, they opted to kick a field goal instead to come within one point. Quinn had too much faith in his defense, another flaw in defensive-minded coaches with an offensive built team.

Georgia isn’t immune to falling apart when it matters. Twice the Georgia Bulldogs have stopped Alabama, and twice Georgia has folded to Alabama’s backup quarterbacks.

Kirby Smart mismanaged the 2018 SEC Championship game to eliminate Georgia from playoff contention. Who are you fooling by putting in Justin Fields on the punt team? It is obviously a fake punt and Alabama sniffed it out before the play even started.

And yet, Kirby still went through with the play.

Not to mention, in the past three regular seasons, Georgia has shown its inept by falling apart in multiple games in which they should’ve won.

Even though the playoff committee has forgotten about Georgia’s loss to South Carolina, that will be a lasting scar for Kirby Smart.
