Four moments Atlanta Falcons fans should be thankful for
By Joe Beasley
The Atlanta Falcons have been around since 1965 with 1966 being their first season in the NFL and while fans haven’t had much to celebrate about, there is still a lot to be thankful for.
The Atlanta Falcons don’t have the longevity of teams like the Green Bay Packers or the Chicago Bears. They don’t have the championships like the New England Patriots or the Pittsburgh Steelers. They don’t have the moniker of “America’s Team” like the Dallas Cowboys.
Let’s face it, the Falcons are just your regular old football team. For the longest time, they didn’t have the flashiest players, all-time great coaches and players or the mystiques of places like the Oakland Raiders have with the Black Hole or the Browns with the Dog Pound.
While it is hard to put the Atlanta Falcons with those franchises when it comes to their legacy and prestige, the Falcons fans have a lot to be proud of and thankful for.
The Falcons have recently been mentioned with some of the best teams in the NFL when it comes to talent and even though the past few seasons have been nothing to brag about, fans of this team still support the team day in and day out.
While outsiders can only think of “28-3”, fans have a lot more things to be proud of. A field goal heard around the world, being responsible for bringing in the most electric athlete the league has seen, a trade for the ages and a new start are just a few things that Falcons fans can be thankful for this thanksgiving.
