Buffalo Bills

This one is cheating when using it as a comparison because their quarterback is still on his rookie contract and allows the franchise to pay others in order to help them be competitive.

The Bills top five players, Tre’Davious White, Stefon Diggs, Dion Dawkins, Mitch Morse, and Mario Addison, take up just 31 percent of the Bills projected 2021 salary cap.

Quarterback Josh Allen takes up just under four percent of the team’s salary cap and isn’t among the team’s Top 10 highest-paid players. He will get a big raise shortly but for the time being, having a young quarterback has been a major asset for the Bills and their ability to rebuild.

Kansas City Chiefs

This may be the most shocking given the Chiefs just signed Patrick Mahomes to a $450 million deal, though just $140 million of it is guaranteed – he also isn’t the highest-paid player on their roster, defensive end Frank Clark is the highest-paid player on the Chiefs roster for 2021.

The Chiefs five highest-paid players, Frank Clark, Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones, Tyrann Mathieu, and Tyreek Hill, take up 57 percent of the Chiefs estimated cap space for 2021. While that is an incredible amount it is still nearly 10 percent less than the Atlanta Falcons in 2021 and the Chiefs have much more to show for it.
