Recent developments have caused the Atlanta Falcons to be shortened a couple of home games, which means in 2021, the franchise will play just seven games at Mercedes Benz Stadium, one game in London, and then their 17th game will be in Jacksonville.

First off, the NFL has announced it will be adding an extra game for every team. With that comes some slightly unfair consequences. With it being an odd amount of games for the first time in more than 40 years, every team will no longer play the same number of home games.

And what do ya know, the Falcons are one of those teams! Atlanta will be traveling to Jacksonville, to face what presumably will be Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars.

Every little thing in the NFL can be the difference between a win or a loss. Home field advantage is a real thing, and it really could be the difference between a win or loss, which in turn could be the difference between playoffs or no playoffs.

What is worse than 1 less home game? Try two fewer home games, and leave it up to the Atlanta Falcons to be the ones that get screwed over.

The Atlanta Falcons announced that they will be traveling to London to play a game.

This international game will be considered a “home game” for the team.

It seems that this will be considered the makeup international game that was canceled last season due to the pandemic.

We still do not know exactly what team we will be going up against but we can still narrow it down to our non-divisional home opponents, which are the Detroit Lions, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, or the Washington Football Team.

So the Atlanta Falcons will now play two fewer home games than about half of the NFL – this can and should be considered a disadvantage.

Over the next few years, the home game disparity will even itself out with other teams having the same fate – assuming that the NFL keeps playing international games, and continues with the new 17 game season. However, it is still a bummer that the Falcons will not be at an equal advantage when it comes to being on their own field as the rest of the NFL.

It seems like the Atlanta Falcons run into every disadvantage or heartbreak they can, but it is what it is, and let’s just hope that Arthur Smith and his team can overcome the odds and silence the rest of the NFL!

Next. Matt Ryan will be the Falcons quarterback for the next three years. dark
