Carolina Panthers beat the New York Jets 19-14 holding off a late New York rally

This was a game about Carolina taking care of business and doing what they should against an inferior Jets team. This wasn’t a game that saw Carolina throwing a lot of their playbook out just yet.

Darnold looked good in his Carolina debut finishing with 279-passing yards and tossing a single touchdown. He looked a lot more comfortable in the Carolina offense and did a much better job taking care of the football.

We still do not know what this Carolina team is yet after week one. This game was more about Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson struggling early and the Panthers executing their game and running out the clock.

McCaffrey looked good in his first week back from injury carrying the ball 21-times for 98-yards rushing.

For the Jets, this is the first loss in what is going to be a season full of them for New York. The Jets haven’t given rookie Zach Wilson enough to work with and because of it are going to finish this season with another top-five pick.

The Panthers appeared to be the third-best team in the NFC South in week one. Surprising considering what a solid performance they put together.
