Hayden Hurst

This is a guy that Falcons head coach Arthur Smith would probably not want to let go of, but it is inevitable that Hurst will be on his way out sooner than later.

The Falcons declined Hurst’s fifth-year option on his rookie contract, meaning that he will be a free agent come March of next year.

The Falcons will almost undoubtedly watch him walk out the door next offseason, so why not get something out of him before he goes?

If a playoff contender sustains an injury at the tight end position, that could be a perfect scenario for Atlanta. They could demand a little bit more due to the team being a little desperate. Prior to the Arizona Cardinals acquiring Zach Ertz, that would have been a perfect place for Hurst.

The one thing that is worth mentioning, how willing would Arthur Smith be to let his second tight end leave? We all know how much Arthur loves the tight-end position, as he uses two tight-end personnel as much as anyone. Hurst is an important piece to his offense but the team is also not very good and probably is not going anywhere this year, so it is worth taking a shot to the team now and actually getting something back for him.

Who knows what the Falcons could get for Hurst. It all comes down to demand and how many teams would be interested in him. He is a talented player, but that does not produce value all by itself.

It would be nearly impossible for Atlanta to get what they spent on him a year ago, but any pick received would help towards the future.
