3. Christian Blake is a depth option that isn’t going to help this team win

With Calvin Ridley out this season and Russell Gage struggling to be consistent Atlanta has needed anyone to step up. So far the only receiver who has exceeded expectations this season has been Tajae Sharpe. Blake remains on the Atlanta roster but is nowhere to be found in a season that has Atlanta desperate for production at the position.

Adding a receiver in the draft or giving Frank Darby a chance to fill his role are the clear options for Atlanta. Blake is a player who has long been on this roster and always failed to make an impact. While now isn’t the right time considering their lack of depth Atlanta needs to move away from Blake in the off-season.

Much of their approach to the position will be determined by Calvin Ridley and whether or not he is able to return to football. If he is cutting Blake is a move that doesn’t hurt Atlanta whatsoever. If he doesn’t rejoin the team Atlanta is going to have to add to the position before moving on from a depth piece like Blake.

Blake has 252-career receiving yards and has never scored a touchdown. His only memorable moment this season was catching a pass on a key drive in London against the New York Jets. Blake is a player who isn’t going to help this team win it is time to move on and find a receiver that can offer Atlanta production as needed.
