Falcons first New Year’s resolution: Find a dominant pass rusher no matter the cost

The Falcons have not had a Myles Garrett or T.J. Watt-type player since John Abraham, or anyone even close to their dominance, that must change.

The sad fact is that the team had T.J. Watt sitting in their laps but they elected to take Takk McKinley instead. That pick will forever haunt the team.

The front office must do whatever it takes to find a game-changing edge rusher, no matter what it cost them, it is a necessity for any team and could change the defense around.

If A.J. Terrell could use anything to improve, even more, it would be having a pass rush to benefit from, something he has not had at all. It would cover up mistakes from the secondary and put the defense in better positions to make critical stops in the game.

A team’s pass rush has a direct outcome on games, it is much of the reason why the Falcons have not had a top defense in years. Whether in the draft or free agency, the front office needs to sell out and find the next perennial double-digit sack artist for a team that has not had one in many years.
