 3. Cutting Tyeler Davison saves the Atlanta Falcons nearly $4 million in cap space

Cutting Davison should be the easiest move of the off-season. You aren’t going to find a team willing to take his contract and he is overpaid when you look at what he brings to the team. He isn’t part of the solution in the trenches and needs to be moved on from.

You still have Marlon Davidson and Grady Jarrett penciled in as your starter and gain a veteran contract by cutting Davison. Cutting Davison open up enough to help pay Patterson or to bring in a veteran receiver or pass rusher.

Paying Davison next season to sit on the sidelines or to play a small role isn’t a consideration for a team that is looking to improve in a wide-open NFC South.

Davison’s salary is much better spent on a player who can have an impact on the team every Sunday, Davison just isn’t that guy.

All told these cuts will free up well over $8-million in cap space and that is before any contract restructuring or without any impactful losses. These three cuts are obvious moves for Atlanta early on this off-season.

The one exception could be Mike Davis who could have some trade value in the right situation.
