2. Matt Ryan deserves better
Trading Matt Ryan a season after giving him the worst offensive line of his career and the worse weapons he has ever dealt with would be a decision. Atlanta has long failed to support Ryan as they should have. Trading Ryan this off-season would be a low move for a franchise that has leaned on Ryan for relevance for a long time.
Even when the Falcons have made the Super Bowl it has been on Ryan’s arm and the offensive scheme. When have you watched Ryan with a defense capable of winning a game? There is an argument to be made that Ryan has never had a great defense and outside of Julio Jones has had very few elite weapons.
Despite this Ryan is a former MVP and has put together a great playoff career proving what he can do when he has pieces around him. Atlanta’s focus right now should not be on a quarterback but on acquiring weapons for the quarterback they already have.
Ryan can still win games for your organization if you support him a fact that the Falcons seem to have forgotten. Ryan had one of the worst teams he has ever been a part of in wildcard contention late into the season despite having a reliable offensive line, run game, or receiver. Ryan isn’t the problem and bringing Watson to Atlanta doesn’t fix the problems around the quarterback position.
