Atlanta Falcons draft a quarterback in this full 7 round mock draft
By Nick Halden
Lecitus Smith is one of many interesting guard prospects that the Atlanta Falcons should be looking at very carefully. Ed Ingram is another potential day two fit for Atlanta that would give them a chance to improve a line that played far below expectations throughout the 2021 season.
This despite having Jake Matthews and Chris Lindstrom locked in as starters. Both players had great seasons that will be overshadowed by the amount of struggles that Kaleb McGary and Jalen Mayfield suffered. Atlanta needs to at the very least replace Mayfield in this draft. They may not be willing to give up on McGary just yet but there should be no questioning that Jalen Mayfield cannot start at this level. Atlanta needs to use this draft to find a player to bring in and compete with Mayfield.
Cutting Jalen a year after drafting him likely isn’t on the table, however, Atlanta must provide some competition and Smith would be a great add. He should win the job and provide some stability in front of Malik Willis or Marcus Mariota and give the offense a chance at consistency. The consistency that Matt Ryan wasn’t given in what was a rough final season with Atlanta.
