2. Adding depth at the receiver position

The biggest issue with the Atlanta Falcons’ offense last season was due to a lack of depth. The team didn’t have an answer at the receiver position when Calvin Ridley left the team. Instead, they were forced to attempt to start Tajae Sharpe and Russell Gage. Two players who were clearly depth receivers attempting to fill roles they shouldn’t have been forced into.

Atlanta has learned from their mistake and fixed its issues at the receiver position this off-season. Drake London, Bryan Edwards, Auden Tate, Geronimo Allison, and Damiere Byrd have all been added this off-season to fix Atlanta’s issues at the position.

While one could argue none of these options are proven there is no denying they are all upgrades over last season’s options. London and Edwards will likely step into starting roles and be the primary receivers alongside Kyle Pitts.

Allison and Tate could both make an impact as well with larger roles in Atlanta. Allison found success with Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay before joining the Lions and receiving only two targets last season.

Atlanta may not have a great group of receivers, however, they greatly improved at the position and added enough talent to give Ridder or Mariota a chance at running a consistent offense.
