2. Devonta Freeman

It is odd that Freeman is still a free agent after finding the most success he has had last season in almost three years. Due to injuries Freeman got a chance last season and bounced back looking like the player he once was in Atlanta.  It appears the Falcons are content to head into the season with Damien Williams, Cordarrelle Patterson, and Tyler Allgeier. However, if the team wanted to add a fourth option or has doubts about Williams, Freeman would be a great reunion on a one-year deal.

He can play a contributing role as the third option for the team that helped him to his first success. Freeman is without question one of the better running backs in franchise history and returning to Atlanta would be a fun story for a team that isn’t going to be playing a lot of meaningful games late into the season.

Freeman is a player that would fit what Arthur Smith wants to do as well in a back who can be a mismatch as a pass catcher. Freeman’s best days are behind him but he can still be a contributor in the right system and a return to Atlanta makes a measure of sense for both sides if injury strikes or Williams struggles.
