The Atlanta Falcons should give QB Desmond Ridder a starting role

For a hundredth time, the Atlanta Falcons need to give the keys to rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder for the remainder of the season, and hopefully, the remainder of the decade.

Marcus Mariota couldn’t trick an infant into thinking he is the future of the franchise, he has been severely inconsistent and it has cost the Falcons.

Why not play Desmond Ridder? He is bound to be a more accurate quarterback and his upside is certainly towering over Mariota’s. There isn’t much of a dropoff in athleticism, if any, everything says to start the young rookie.

But, Arthur Smith does not seem to be budging at all. There must be something behind the curtain that explains the unwillingness to go with Ridder moving forward. Surely, the team has to be fully aware that Mariota isn’t playing at even an average level in the NFL.

Starting Desmond Ridder would also excite the fans and draw a bigger crowd to Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
