4. Lorenzo Carter

The Atlanta Falcons have been forced to shop in the bargain aisle in free agency to attempt to fix their pass rush issues. Atlanta is last in the league in sacks over the last two years and it isn’t terribly close. Carter was signed with the hope he would thrive in Dean Pees’ system as a featured pass rusher and help solve Atlanta’s inability to get to the quarterback.

Carter finished the season with 4.0 sacks and 12 quarterback hits in a solid season. While he had a good year Carter obviously isn’t the edge rusher Atlanta is looking for and will likely leave in free agency.

Atlanta has the draft picks and the cap space to attempt to fix their pass rush and it is hard to see them bringing back a player who was already unable to make the expected impact. The only reason Atlanta should bring Carter back is if they have the extra cap space and Carter signs a team-friendly deal to be a rotational edge rusher.

Lorenzo had some great moments in an Atlanta uniform including a huge fumble recovery, however, Carter isn’t the elite pass rusher the Falcons need to find so badly that it is likely time for both sides to move on.
