1. Kaleb McGary

Kaleb McGary picked the perfect time to have the best season of his young career. McGary had been a huge part of Atlanta’s offensive line problems often whiffing on pass rushers and struggling to run block in years past. Putting on the tape this season and it is obvious that McGary is going to get paid this off-season.

If the Falcons had decided to stick with McGary a season ago it would have paid off in a big way. Instead, the team decided they hadn’t seen enough to bring back the right tackle and opted to have this be his final year under contract.

Kaleb had a career year and is in line to get paid in free agency. If the Falcons are serious about avoiding putting themselves back in a terrible cap situation McGary is the exact type of player who you avoid in free agency. The player who has struggled for the majority of his career coming off of an outlier of a season that has him in line to get paid. Perhaps it took McGary this long to develop and moving forward he will be a solid starter. While this is possible the Falcons shouldn’t take this risk with comparable starting options in the draft and free agency. It is very possible that McGary has played his final game for an Atlanta Falcons team that he spent the majority of his tenure struggling to make the basic plays.
