2. Andy Dalton

Obviously, Dalton is more about the fit for Atlanta and less about the connection to the former New Orleans defensive line coach. Atlanta needs a capable backup who can start and make the basic throws if Ridder is injured or struggles. They need a player who can push Ridder in the pre-season without fans clamoring for the backup the first time Ridder makes a mistake or misses an open receiver.

Dalton fits that description exactly as a fringe starter or a high-end backup capable of winning games. New Orleans isn’t a good team and yet was able to hang in contention with Dalton putting together multiple clutch games including outplaying Ridder in the rookies first career start.

Andy would be a fit for the Falcons based on his career and knowledge he can give to Ridder or use to step in and win games in the regular season if Desmond isn’t the answer. After Jacoby Brissett, Dalton is the best option for Atlanta if they are looking for a top backup.
