3. Calvin Ridley

What happened with the Atlanta Falcons and Calvin Ridley is one of the most frustrating endings for an incredibly talented player. Atlanta moved on from Julio Jones and pivoted to Calvin Ridley as their primary option with Ridley thriving behind Jones for his first three seasons.

Ridley got off to a rough start in his first year without Julio Jones in front of him and stepped away from the team citing mental health reasons. Ridley’s decision to put his health first and step away from the game should be commended.

The decision that followed, however, with Ridley betting on NFL games ended with Calvin getting suspended and Atlanta eventually parting ways sending Ridley to Jacksonville.

While it wasn’t Atlanta’s fault Ridley wasn’t on the field this past season his production and presence was missed as a veteran that would have completed Atlanta’s receiver room with Drake London and Olamide as the second and third options. Ridley, Pitts, London, and Patterson would have been an elite combination that Atlanta will never get to see on the field together.
